Two Injured In Sioux Center Crash

Sioux Center, Iowa — Two women were taken to the Sioux Center Hospital in the aftermath of a 2-vehicle crash in Sioux Center Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Sioux Center Police Department, the crash happened shortly after 1 pm Wednesday at the intersection of 13th Avenue Southeast, and 16th Street Southeast.  Authorities say a 2012 Ford Fusion, driven by 22-year old Hannah Norton of Buffalo, Minnesota, was southbound on 13th Avenue Southeast, nearing the 16th Street intersection.  Police say a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer, driven by 47-year old Rosa Badillo Alvarado of Hull, was stopped at the stop sign on 16th Street, heading east.  Badillo Alvarado told police she looked both ways and didn’t see any vehicles, then attempted to make a left turn, pulling into the path of Norton’s Ford.

Both Norton and Badillo Alvarado were transported to the Sioux Center Hospital by Sioux Center Ambulance.

Authorities say Badillo Alvarado was cited for Failure To Yield Upon Entering A Through Highway, and No Valid Driver’s License.

Damage to Norton’s Fusion was estimated at $7,500, while damage to Badillo Alvarado’s Blazer was estimated at $4,500.
