Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council met in regular session on Wednesday afternoon.
In the public forum part of the meeting, City Clerk and Acting City Co-Manager Angie Beckman read a letter they received from Mitch Giese.
The meeting continued with the council approving the consent agenda.
In new business, the council held a public hearing to rezone lots adjacent to Sheldon Crossing and the Trijinks Addition. No comments were made or filed. The council passed the first reading, waived the second and third readings, and approved the measure. They then held a public hearing — again with no comments — to vacate an easement in the Trijinks Addition. That was also approved.
The council approved a new job description for the city manager position. Next, they voted to reduce the liquor license liability at the Crossroads Pavilion Events Center to five million dollars. It had been seven million, so the move will save some funding that would have gone to pay the higher premium.
The council approved a design and survey engineering agreement for the 2nd Avenue rehabilitation project with Beck Engineering. They agreed to pay $47,400 for survey services and $189,900 for civil engineering.
They also approved a 9th Street Reconstruction Project proposal with Beck. The survey services will cost $6600, the civil engineering will cost $32,900, and the construction administration and staking will cost $25,900, according to the approved agreement.
