Doon, Iowa — A 19-year-old from Doon was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital after a crash near Doon on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 8:35 p.m., 19-year-old Levi Maassen of Doon was driving a 2023 Polaris ATV southbound on Grant Avenue, a mile south and two east of Doon. They tell us that 26-year-old Alan Baker of Pipestone, MN, was parked on the west shoulder of Grant Avenue with a 2013 Peterbilt, unloading fertilizer.
The report says that the ATV struck the semi and came to rest in the east ditch, turned upside down. The Lyon County Ambulance took Maassen to Hegg Health in Rock Valley. He was later airlifted to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls via Sanford Airmed. His injuries were called “serious.”
