Washington, D.C. (RI) — U.S. Supreme Court Justices Elena Kagan and Amy Coney Barret asked members of the House Appropriations Committee Tuesday for more security funding.
Iowa Congresswoman Ashley Hinson serves on the committee.
Hinson, a Republican from Marion, has two teenage sons and says she understands the concerns the justices have for their families.
Justices told Hinson they want security in courtrooms while still keeping them accessible to everyone, and they need proper security during public appearances.
Kagan and Barrett also spoke to members of the U.S. Senate about their security concerns and requested for additional funding.
