Horse Trailer Totaled In Fire Near Alvord

Alvord, Iowa — A horse trailer was destroyed in a fire on Monday, May 11, 2026, near Alvord.

According to Alvord Fire Chief Tanner Van Middendorp, at about 2:55 p.m., the Alvord Fire Department was called to the report of a horse trailer on fire at 2227 Eagle Avenue, three-quarters of a mile southwest of Alvord.

When they got there, the chief says the fire department saw the trailer fully engulfed. He says they extinguished the flames with water.

Van Middendorp says no injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined.

Chief Van Middendorp reports that the trailer, which hadn’t moved in three weeks, was totaled in the blaze.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about half an hour.
