Paullina Woman Accused Of Stealing Thousands From Older Impaired Man

Sheldon, Iowa — A Paullina woman has been arrested on felony theft and other charges in Sheldon.

A criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sheldon Police says 67-year-old Kimberly Pedersen of Paullina is accused of stealing money from an older victim. She was arrested on Monday on a warrant.

In his statement, the officer says Pedersen used the victim’s bank account without authorization from the victim, who is an older individual with cognitive impairment. The officer accuses her of spending over $18,500 of the victim’s funds.

Pedersen was charged with first-degree theft and ongoing criminal conduct, both class B felonies. She also faces a class C felony count of financial exploitation of an older individual and a class D felony count of nonsupport of a dependent adult. If convicted on all charges, Pedersen could face a prison sentence of up to 65 years.

She faces a preliminary hearing in the case next Tuesday, May 19th.

Pedersen was booked into the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar, and was released the same day after posting bond.
