Sioux City, Iowa (RI) — A change in ownership of Sioux City’s Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is possible following a financial filing Wednesday by current owner Churchill Downs Incorporated.
The company filed a form with the Securities and Exchange Commission, stating it is exploring the sale of nine regional gaming properties, including the Hard Rock in Sioux City. Churchill Downs says the review is part of an evaluation of its operational portfolio and long-term capital-allocation strategy.
The other properties listed in the filing are located across the eastern United States. Churchill Downs also stated there is no timetable for completing the review.
The company — best known for operating the Kentucky track that hosts the Kentucky Derby — will hold an investor call Thursday to discuss quarterly earnings.
