Rock Rapids, Iowa — A Rock Rapids man has been arrested on a burglary charge after an incident in that community.

A criminal complaint filed by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says 70-year-old Harlan Pals of Rock Rapids is accused of taking a leaf blower from his neighbor’s garage. He was arrested on Friday.

In his statement, the deputy says Pals gained entry to the attached garage of the occupied home and took a leaf blower. The deputy says the homeowner has video footage from a doorbell cam.

Pals was charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony. If convicted, he could face up to ten years in prison. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of fifth-degree theft against an older individual.

Pals was booked into the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids and was released the same day on a signature bond.
