(KIWA Staff Photo)Statewide, Iowa — The initial Associated Press college football poll is out, and the Iowa Hawkeyes open the year ranked 22nd.
The national picture features a familiar powerhouse at the top: Ohio State leads the poll, followed by Oregon, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Texas in the top five.
The Big Ten is well-represented throughout the rankings. Indiana checks in at No. 9, Michigan at No. 16, and Penn State at No. 18, giving the conference four teams inside the Top 25 before the season kicks off.
