Estherville, Iowa – An Armstrong man is dead after the pickup he was driving collided with a semi driven by a Hawarden woman.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened shortly before 6:45 Friday evening east of Estherville on Highway 9. Troopers say a 2020 Peterbilt pulling a box trailer, driven by 50-year-old Karie Marie Eisma of Hawarden was eastbound on Highway 9, when a westbound pickup driven by 41-year-old John James Bumgart of Armstrong, crossed the center line and collided with the Eisma semi.
According to authorities, Bumgart was killed in the crash. Eisma was reportedly taken to the Holy Family Hospital in Estherville by the Estherville ambulance.
