Alton, Iowa — A 61-year-old man was taken to the hospital following a collision between his motorcycle and a pickup truck late Tuesday afternoon near Alton.
Sioux County authorities report that about 5:40 Tuesday afternoon a 1997 Dodge Ram pickup, driven by 68-year-old Dennis Gergen, of Alton, was southbound on Kingbird Avenue, two miles east of Alton, and 61-year-old Daniel Zevenbergan was eastbound on Highway 60, driving a 2002 Kawasaki Vulcan Motorcycle. Deputies say Gergen’s pickup crossed Highway 60, colliding with the motorcycle in the intersection.
Authorities say Zevenbergen was transported by the Alton Ambulance to the Orange City Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The Dodge sustained approximately $500 in damage. The Kawasaki sustained approximately $3,000 in damage, according to authorities.
Deputies say Gergen was cited for failing to yield from a stop sign.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Alton Ambulance, Alton Fire Department and Orange City Police Department.
