Paullina, Iowa — A Laurens, Iowa man was injured in an accident in the morning of Tuesday, July 26th near Paullina.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 9:45 am on Tuesday, 61-year-old Billy Sharp of Laurens was driving a 1995 Peterbilt straight truck westbound on Highway 10, west of Paullina. Nineteen-year-old Connor Klatt of Sheldon was driving a 2000 Sterling AT9500 westbound on Highway 10, ahead of Sharp. According to the report, Klatt reduced his speed after catching up to a farm tractor pulling a sprayer that was also westbound on Highway 10. The report continues that Sharp looked at his vehicle dash gauges and when he looked up, Klatt’s vehicle was driving slow. Sharp braked and steered right and struck the rear of Klatt’s Sterling, then entered the north ditch and rolled on to its side.
The Peterbilt received $15,000 damage; the Sterling received $2,500 damage.
Sharp reported minor injuries, and declined further medical attention.
