Rock Valley, Iowa — An Orange City woman is in jail, facing two felony counts after an incident on Wednesday evening in Rock Valley.
According to Rock Valley Police Chief Monte Warburton, at about 7:15 Wednesday evening, the Rock Valley Police Department was called to 1605 18th Avenue in Rock Valley for a disturbance.
He says officers believe that a physical altercation took place at that location over a property dispute. They say that during the dispute, a handgun was allegedly displayed, and the offender allegedly threatened the victim while pointing the handgun at the victim.
Rock Valley officers say the offender had fled the area before they arrived. Law enforcement later located the offender in Orange City and identified her as 41-year-old April Sunday of Orange City.
Chief Warburton says Sunday was arrested and charged with Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, a class C felony; Going Armed with Intent a class D felony; and a misdemeanor count of Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon.
He tells us the investigation is ongoing, and more charges are expected. He says the Orange City Police Department assisted them. The chief reminds people that a criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
