Primghar, Iowa — Two old cars were destroyed in a fire on Friday night near Primghar.
According to Primghar Assistant Fire Chief Cory Crouch, the Primghar Fire Department was called to 4179 Silver Avenue for a car fire, about 9 p.m. That’s nearly three miles south of Primghar on Highway 59.
Crouch tells us when they arrived, they found two cars in the grove fully involved in fire. He says they were scrap cars, and someone had jump-started one of the cars and had run it into the other one, and they started on fire. The good news, he says, is the damage was mostly limited to the cars, which they were going to scrap anyway. He says there was also minimal damage to trees in the grove. Crouch tells us they put out the fire with water.
What little value the cars had was totaled in the fire.
He says firefighters were on the scene for 45 minutes to an hour.
