Sheldon Man In Jail On Burglary, Assault Charges

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon man has been arrested on burglary and assault charges after an alleged altercation in Sheldon.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sheldon Police Department, 45-year-old Torrence Lamb of Sheldon is accused of entering a house where his presence was not wanted and assaulting a victim on Saturday, February 11, 2023. He was arrested on a warrant on Tuesday, February 14th, 2023.

The complaint states that Lamb allegedly forced the door open to a residence, striking a woman. This happened after Lamb was involved in a verbal altercation with another victim, attempted to enter the residence with force, and was shoved out of the door by the first victim, who sustained bodily injuries during the incident.

Lamb was charged with first-degree burglary, a class B felony, as well as a misdemeanor count of assault causing bodily injury. If convicted of a class B felony, Lamb could face up to 25 years in prison.

He faces a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, March 7th.

At last report, Lamb remained in the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar in lieu of a $25,000 cash or surety bond.
