Sioux Center, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — The Seventh Street North crossing of Highway 75 in Sioux Center is opening to east-west traffic Friday, giving drivers another way across the construction zone before the first day of school.
The crossing is located near Casey’s. Traffic signals at the intersection will flash red, requiring all motorists to stop before proceeding. City officials are asking drivers to use extra caution, as construction crews and equipment will remain active throughout the area.
Highway 75 will stay closed from Fifth Street North to just south of Seventh Street North, with another closure continuing from just north of Seventh Street to near 12th Street North as work progresses.
The Seventh Street intersection is open only for east-west travel. Drivers cannot go north or south on Highway 75 through the construction zone.
The gravel crossing at Ninth Street Northwest also remains available. Drivers may use that route to reach Econo Lodge, Mi Lupita, and other businesses along the east side of the highway.
City officials thanked contractors for prioritizing work at Seventh Street so the crossing could open before students return to school.
