Rock Valley, Iowa– Three people from Larchwood were taken to the hospital after an accident in Rock Valley on Saturday, September 30, 2023.
The Rock Valley Police Department reports that at about 8:40 p.m., 20-year-old Jacob Ymker of Sioux Center was driving a 2003 Ford pickup westbound on Highway 18, in Rock Valley. They tell us that 26-year-old Brenda Goneqlez Suarez of Larchwood was eastbound on 18 in a 2018 Nissan.
The report says that Goneqlez Suarez was in the turn lane and had a flashing yellow turn arrow, which indicates the vehicle may turn but needs to yield to any oncoming traffic. Ymker had a green light. Goneqlez Suarez turned left in front of Ymker, and the vehicles collided.
The Rock Valley Ambulance took Goneqlez Suarez and two boys in her vehicle to Hegg Health Center Avera Hospital. Ymker reported no injuries.
Ymker’s Ford pickup sustained $2500 in damages, and Goneqlez Suarez’s Nissan sustained $18,000 in damages. The officer noted that damage to both vehicles was severe.
Goneqlez Suarez was charged with unsafe turn and no valid driver’s license.
