Sioux Center, Iowa — A Hull man faces a felony charge following an investigation by the Sioux Center Police Department.
Sioux Center Police Chief Mike Halma says his officers arrested 20-year-old Jose Alfonzo Hernandez-Ortiz Sunday (March 24th) on a charge of 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse, which is a Class C Felony. Halma says the charge stems from an incident on January 16th of this year when Hernandez-Ortiz is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old female. Halma says the alleged incident wasn’t reported to Sioux Center police until March 23rd, and Hernandez-Ortiz was arrested the next day.
According to the Sioux County Jail Log, as of mid-afternoon Monday, Hernandez-Ortiz was being held in the Sioux County Jail in lieu of a ten-thousand-dollar bond.
If convicted, Hernandez-Ortiz could face up to 10-years in prison.
