Sioux Center, Iowa — The Sioux Center Fire Department was called out on Thursday, March 28, 2019 for a smoke call in Sioux Center.
According to Sioux Center Fire Chief David Van Holland, firefighters were in a meeting at the station when they were alerted to the call at about 8:45 p.m. The report was at a home on 7th Street Northwest, west of the Sioux Center Hardee’s.
The chief says the fire department saw smoke in the building. He says they were able to trace the smoke to a plastic lid in the dishwasher that had fallen on the heating element and started to melt and smoke.
Van Holland says no injuries were reported.
Chief Van Holland reports that there was no damage.
He says they responded with just one truck, and firefighters were on the scene only for a few minutes.
