Car Strikes Cook’s Cafe

sheldon police pd car door logoSheldon, Iowa — For the second time in less than a week a Sheldon restaurant has been damaged when they were struck by vehicles.

Last week it was the Hardee’s Restaurant at 2nd Avenue and Park Street, this time it was Cook’s Cafe at 2nd Avenue and 8th Street.

Sheldon Police say that about noon on Thursday (September 8th), a vehicle struck the west side of the Cook’s Cafe building.  According to the accident report, a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox was parking in the Cook’s parking lot when the driver’s foot slipped off the brake pedal and onto the gas, jumping a curb and striking the building.

Damage to the Equinox was estimated by Police to be $2,800, with damage to the restaurant estimated to be $12-thousand.

No injuries were reported.  The name of the 90-year old driver was not released in the accident report.
