Northwest, Iowa — A Hawarden teen’s vehicle and a Hawarden’s man semi were damaged in a collision at an intersection near Ireton on Monday, August 29th.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 8:00 am on Monday, 14-year-old Alexis Haverhals of Hawarden was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Eagle Avenue, two miles north of Ireton. Fifty-five-year old Dean Jurrens of Hawarden was driving a 2016 Mack semi-truck pulling a gravel trailer on Highway 10. According to the report, . Haverhals turned left onto Highway 10 from Eagle Avenue and was struck by Jurrens.
The Chevrolet received $1500 damage; the Mack received $1000 damage.
No injuries were reported.
Later on Monday, the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident northwest of Ireton.
The report states, that at about 10:53 am on Monday, the Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident eight miles northwest of Ireton and upon further investigation the accident actually happened on Saturday, August 27, at approximately 10:00 am.
The report continues that 38-year-old Broc Yesda of Hawarden was driving a 2002 GMC Sierra northbound on Dogwood Avenue. Thirty-two-year-old Thomas Miller of Sioux Center was driving a 2007 Peterbilt straight truck eastbound on 400th Street. According to the Sheriff’s Office, The two met in the intersection where the accident happened.
The GMC received $4000 damage, and the Peterbilt received $3000 damage.
Yesda was transported by private vehicle to Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley, IA for treatment of minor injuries.
On Monday afternoon, a Hull woman’s vehicle was damaged after she struck a mailbox in Hull.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 3:58 pm on Monday, 33-year-old Susan De Yager of Hull was driving a 2008 GMC Denali eastbound on Highway 18 in Hull. Fifty-three-year-old Beth Polacek of Boyden was driving a 2013 Nissan Rogue westbound on Highway 18. According to the report, . Polecek entered the eastbound lane; De Yager drove into the south ditch to avoid Polacek and struck a mailbox.
The GMC received $3000 damage.
No injuries were reported.
An Omaha, Nebraska man’s milling machine was damaged after a hail bale struck him on Tuesday, August 30th near Sioux Center.
The report states that at about 10:40 am on Tuesday, 64-year-old Craig Jensen of Vermillion, South Dakota was driving a 2006 International semi-tractor pulling a trailer with hay bales eastbound on 420th Street through a construction zone, three miles west of Sioux Center. Forty-nine-year-old Tracy Thompson of Omaha, Nebraska was driving a 2000 Wirtgen roadway milling machine southbound on Garfield crossing 420th Street. The Sheriff’s Office continues that a hay bale on the semi‐trailer struck the front of milling machine.
The milling machine received $2000 damage.
No injuries were reported.
